Jack Eugene Parson, 88, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 14, 2016.
Jack was born January 24, 1928, in New Philadelphia Ohio to Stewart Roy Parson and Mary Virginia Parson.
He was a 1945 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and immediately joined the Army Air Force, Aviation Engineer Battalion, and was schooled as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Diesel Specialist.
Jack married Phyllis Ann Wright on May 23, 1950 and they had two children, Pamela Sue Parson Rosten of Paramus, New Jersey and Stewart William Parson of New Philadelphia. Phyllis died in 1969.
Jack married Mary Renee Aceituno on December 4, 1971. With Renee came five children, Maria Elena Bailey, New Philadelphia, Carla Renee Rickerd, CA, Alfonso Aceituno, CA, Stephanie Ann Cliff, Ohio and John Aceituno, CA and Ricardo Aceituno, CA.
On October 15, 1947, Jack began working for the Foundry Division of Emerson Electric Company, I.F. Sales which later became I. F. Manufacturing in New Philadelphia. In 1985, after 37 years at I.F., Jack was transferred to Erie, PA, to the Urich Foundry, where he helped to develop a new process of producing Ductile Iron. Following more than 42 years of service, Jack retired on January 31, 1990 from Urich Foundry.
After his retirement, Jack told Renee he would move to wherever her music career lead and that started their journey; from Erie PA, to Miami, FL to Waterloo, IA back to Erie, PA to South Bend, IN, and then to Clayton, NC and finally back to New Philadelphia.
During this time, Jack taught himself how to facet and mount gemstones, making rings, tie tacks and necklaces for each of his family members. His love for faceting gems lead to a new business. A comment from someone admiring a piece he or Renee was wearing was enough for him to open his case and proudly display his work. His specialty was with Opals. His ideas were unique enough that they were published in Lapidary Magazine.
Jack loved to hear stories of his children and 19 grandchildren’s journeys and accomplishments. He was most proud of his family. Although it was an extended family with brothers and sisters, everyone was treated equally.
He is survived by his wife Renee; his children, Pamela Sue (Seth) Rosten of Paramus, New Jersey and Stewart William (Charity) Parson of New Philadelphia, Maria Elena (Randy) Bailey of New Philadelphia, Carla Renee (Lance) Rickerd of CA, Alfonso Aceituno, CA, Stephanie (Tom) Ann Cliff of Ohio, John (Elvira) Aceituno of CA and Ricardo (Margarita) Aceituno of CA; his 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
