Jack P. Ferren, age 67, of Dover, and formerly of Crooked Run Rd., passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover following a courageous battle with cancer.Born April 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Leland and Elma Eileen (Thompkins) Ferren.Jack went to school at Front Street before starting his career with Spies Turkey Farms. He was also employed by Dayton Specht Farms of Sugarcreek, and the Dover Feed Mill.Jack enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including bike riding with his best friend, Butchie Boone, listening to country music, roller skating, and spending time with his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Thomas (Becky) Ferren of Dover; his two sisters, Vicki S. Snedeker of New Philadelphia, and Sheila K. Stedman of Congress, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Ferren; and two sisters, Dalelynn Haglock and Bonnie Woolard.Visitation will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating.In appreciation of their superior care to Jack, his family requests memorial contributions be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, O. 44622.
