Jack Nemetz

Jack L. Nemetz, 78, of Dover, passed away July 6, 2018 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a 3-year illness.

Born in Mineral City on April 4, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Irene (Brinkman) Nemetz.

After graduating from Tuscarawas Valley High School, Jack continued his formal education at Canton Business School and Kent State University.

Jack married his wife, the former Suzanne Wolf on June 10, 1961. Together, they celebrated their 57th anniversary this past June. Their greatest blessing was becoming parents to their son, Scott.

Jack began his professional career with Marlite where he served for 10 years. Then, he and Suzanne entered the automotive industry and were the originators of Parkway Auto Centers of Dover, Uhrichsville, and Dennison. They owned and operated the company for more than 30 years, prior to retiring in 2003 and selling the Parkway Nissan Lincoln Mercury dealership. They enjoyed retirement in North Naples were he greatly enjoyed golfing, playing bocce, and socializing with dear friends.

Jack’s faith was nurtured at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was also an active member of the community having served on the board of directors for First National Bank of Dennison in addition to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NE Ohio.

He was a former member of Union Country Club where he enjoyed golfing and was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. #510. Jack generously gave of his time and talent to many organizations, most recently Community Hospice where he was an integral part of the annual golf classic.

Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Suzanne, of Dover; his son, Scott A. Nemetz, of Sunrise, FL; his siblings, Sandra K. (Larry) Horstman of Bolivar and Dean A. Nemetz of Columbus; and his brother-in-law, Davy Joe Wolf of Bolivar. Jack also deeply loved his niece, Lisa Walsh, and his five nephews, Larry Horstman, Jr., Rick, Allen, Jim, and Doug Wolf.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in passing by his sisters-in-law, Tanya Nemetz and Jeanne Wolf.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. Dover, on Sunday, July 8 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with burial following in Dover Burial Park. Friends and family are invited back to the Geib Funeral Center’s hospitality suite where a luncheon will be served following the committal service.
