Jack Little

Jack Little, 81, passed away peacefully in his home in Strasburg, Ohio on August 6, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Jack was born on December 8, 1941, in Wheeling, West Virginia. 

Jack was a beloved husband, father, and PopPop. He was married to Winnie Little for over 53 years. Together, they created a loving and nurturing home for their children. Jack is survived by his wife, his children, Matt (Trisha) Little, Chad Little, Jon (Jessica) Little, and Jamie (Nathanael) Petry, and his grandchildren Braden, Sidney, Jackson, Averi, Kynlee, Carter, Cade, Colton, Brody, Katie, Blake, Annabelle, and Brock. Jack is also survived by his brother, Bill Little and his sister, Linda (Jim) Lash.

Jack graduated from Warwood High School before continuing his education at West Virginia Wesleyan and West Virginia University. Following school, Jack devoted 30 years of his life to teaching students at Hopedale High School and then Jewett-Scio High School.  During retirement, Jack continued to cheer on his beloved West Virginia Mountaineers in every sport and always enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for deals at garage sales with Winnie at his side. Jack always took great pride in maintaining his impeccable lawn, and he loved regularly eating breakfast at Bob Evans where he befriended any staff that served him.

Above all else, Jack was the consummate family man.  He loved family gatherings, and he surrounded himself with pictures of his children and grandchildren to always feel their presence.  He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all those that knew him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The family will greet guests on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Jack’s life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel.
