Jack Frederick Fuhrer, age 94, of Strasburg passed away on March 12, 2025, following a brief illness. Jack was born on September 9, 1930, in Strasburg, Ohio, to the late Hiram and Mae (Gowins) Fuhrer. He was married for more than 65 years to the love of his life, Ruthann (Snyder) Fuhrer, with whom he raised three children and who predeceased him in 2023.

Having grown up on the family farm, Jack enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War, serving in Japan. A two-way radio technician in the Air Force, Jack remained an amateur radio operator for many years. After his service, he studied at Milwaukee School of Engineering before returning to Ohio, where he owned a service station and an excavation business, then spent most of his working life farming. He had a great love of aviation, including both building and piloting small aircraft, and was a longstanding member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He and Ruthann spent many wonderful years traveling in their RV, often with dear friends Marion and Ron Shoemaker, and taking part in the Good Sam Camping Club, through which they met other cherished friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jack is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Lloyd and Mildred (Fuhrer) Haas, brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and C. Joanne (Shaw) Snyder, and parents-in-law Donald and Ruth (Fowler) Snyder. Jack is survived by son Joseph (Patti) Fuhrer; son Herb Fuhrer; daughter Lori (Neal Bell) Fuhrer; grandchildren Jason (Breanna) Fuhrer, Lisa Keith, Michael (Casey) Fuhrer, Joshua Fuhrer, Henry Bell and Frederick Bell; great-grandchildren Nathan Keith, Austin Keith, Jackson Fuhrer, Ella Fuhrer, Nora Fuhrer, Will Fuhrer, Asher Fuhrer, and Weston Fuhrer; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover. A funeral service celebrating Jack’s life, with Pastor Jason Rissler, will be held at noon that same day, also at Geib Funeral Center, with lunch immediately following.
