Jack Ellsworth Reneker, 83, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013.
Jack was born in New Philadelphia, OH on June 22, 1930, a son of the late Willard Franklin Reneker and Alberta Wise Reneker.
He worked for Roadway Express for 30 years, finishing his 50 years of driving trucks and retired in January of 1999.
While in Ohio Jack was a member of the Church of God of New Philadelphia. He was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed fishing, camping and water skiing. He was also an active bowler, having been on many leagues.
He was a member of the Ralph R. Rickly Masonic Lodge 670 of Columbus, OH.
A caring and devoted family man, Jack was kind and gracious to everyone. He always saw the best in all people and his gentle demeanor will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by wife, Velma Cope Reneker; brothers, Van F., Roy, and Louis Reneker; as well as a step-daughter, Debbie Jordan Benton.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Alice (Jackie Jordan) Reneker; brother, Donald Reneker; sister, Winifred Freeman; children, Glenn (Betty) Reneker, Jack Dale (Candy) Reneker, Dalene (Bill) Burg and Karen Reneker; step-children, Carol (Jonathan) Dembo, Jo Ellen (Jeff) Sneddon, Allen (Judy) Jordan, Larry (June) Jordan and Linda Jordan; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his best buddy, Duke.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will begin at 7:00 PM. A service to commemorate his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday in the Dover Funeral Center with Reverend Larry Malterer officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
The family is very grateful to, and wishes to thank, all the staff of 400 East at Memorial Hospital and to Tennessee Oncology for their many years of care and kindness. A special thanks to Dr. Davey Daniel and his partners.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406 or the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 245 Locust St, Akron, OH 44302 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
