Jack Edward Sims Sr.

Jack Edward Sims Sr., 89, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover. Jack was a resident in Hennis Care Centre at Dover for three years.Jack was born on January 6, 1918 in Cambridge, Ohio. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1936. Jack entered the United States Army in 1941 and served his country until 1945 during World War II. In 1982, Jack retired from the United States Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta, Ohio. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Pearl (Rose) Kerr and son-in-law, Thomas Cox who died November 2, 2006.He is survived by his wife, Lillian M. Sims who he married September 5, 1943; daughters, Sandra Cox of New Philadelphia, Renee (Dan) Jackson of New Philadelphia, Nancy (Mark) Homan of New Philadelphia, Becky (Rick) Espenschied of Strasburg; sons, Jack E. (Christine) Sims Jr. of New Philadelphia, Gary A. Sims and companion (Tonya Anderson) of Dennison; grandchildren, Tracey (Kenny) Steinbach, Carrie Jackson, Shannon (Shawn) Kettering, Kevin Espenschied, Melissa Espenschied, Amanda Homan, Chelsea Sims; great grandchildren, Ashley, Colleen, and Tristan Steinbach; sisters-in-law, Alice Bowne, Ann (George) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends are invited to call on Friday, February 2, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.Msgr. George J. Schlegel will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Following the mass, a reception will be given for family and friends in the St. Ambrose Hall.Memorial contributions to honor Jack’s life may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Organ Fund, 139 Third Street N.E., New Philadelphia, Ohio.
