Jack E. Smith, 73, of Tippecanoe, passed away unexpectedly from heart complications on March 17, 2014.
Born in Tippecanoe on February 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Otha Ralph and Florine (Hebb) Smith. After completing his formal education, Jack worked as a self-employed “Jack of All Trades”.
He loved to be in nature coon hunting in his free time. He was also notably a decedent of George Washington.
Jack’s family includes his children, Marlee Jo (Mark) Beatty of Gnadenhutten, Jack Edward Smith, Jr. of Wainwright, Jay Dee (Christy) Smith of Freeport, Jennifer Moore of Uhrichsville, and Eric Trimmer; his companion, Mary Stull of Quaker City, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Donna Smith of Newcomerstown; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill (Helen) Smith of Moorefield, Ohio, Bernard (Nancy) Smith of Toledo, Denzel (Donna) Smith of Red Level, Alabama, Kathleen Cruze-Smith of Woodsfield, Ohio, Honey Semuga of Barberton, Ralph (Nancy) Carpenter of Spencer, West Virginia, Donny Smith of Stillwater, Margie Caldwell of Newcomerstown, Maryann (Bobby) Harshey of Uhrichsville, Harold (Kathy) Smith of Uhrichsville, Barbara (companion, Todd Sowards) Foster of Sherrodsville, and Harlen (Linda) Smith of Bowerston; former wife, Shirley Smith of Wainwright; former companion, Ruth Keith Espenschied of Uhrichsville; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful companions, Coco Mo Jo and Tito the dogs.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Jason Smith; his brother, Joe Smith; and his infant brother, Anthony Smith.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Cremation will follow through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and private inurnment will take place at a later date.
