Jack David Klingler, 63, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2004 in Union Hospital at Dover. He had been ill since December. Born in Dover November 21, 1940, he was a son of Kathryn Karleen Eberly Klingler and the late Dr. Raymond Albert Klingler. Jack graduated from Baltic High School in 1959 and attended Ashland University. Jack also completed technical school in Tennessee. He resided in Franklin, Tennessee for thirteen years before relocating to New Philadelphia. Mr. Klingler then became affiliated with Buckeye Career Center where he worked as an educator in electronics and computer technology until his retirement in the summer of 2002. Jack attended the First Christian Church, The First Presbyterian Church, and the First Church of the Brethren, all in New Philadelphia. His family regarded him as an excellent gourmet cook. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing the organ. At the time of his death, he served as president of the Baltic High School Alumni Association. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 15 years, Betty Kaiser Hanenkrat Klingler, whom he married January 27, 1989; a step-daughter, Tami (Lonnie) Shotwell of Coshocton; and stepsons Skip (Samantha) Hanenkrat of Dover, and Jeff Klingler of Lebanon, TN; granddaughters Chloe, Sophie and Rylie Hanenkrat; a brother, Mick (Shari) Klingler of New Philadelphia; a sister, Kathy (Tom) Hershberger of New Philadelphia, and nieces, Natalie and Andrea Sirna. In addition to his father, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Dapoz, and a nephew Barry Ray Dapoz. Friends are invited to call Friday evening from 5 until 8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Pastor Jim Borton will officiate Mr. Klingler’s Funeral Saturday morning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. A reception will be held for family and friends in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home, following the committal.
