Ivor E. Lab, 88, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 in Hennis Care and Retirement Centre at Dover.
A son of the late Peter and Mary (Kipfsthul) Lab, Ivor was born April 2, 1928 at Zoarville, Ohio.
Ivor served in the United States Army, and upon receiving his discharge, he worked as a Dover City Schools bus driver for 10 years. He ultimately retired from Fleming Foods, where he spent 18 years as a truck driver. He was also the owner of Lab’s General Store in Winfield and was a member of St. Aloysius Church. Ivor was a true jokester and handyman, who enjoyed and was very good at the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Josephine (Kornish) Lab of Dover, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia (Craig Septer) Brown of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a son, Larry (Nancy) Lab of Dublin, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Brown, Lindsay (Brandon) Edgerton, and Lacey (Andy) Ryba; five great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Maxwell Brown, Lennox and Lola Edgerton, and Lila Ryba; special nieces and nephew, JoAnne Chapple, Carole Roy, and Bob (Sharon) Price; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ivor was preceded in death by his four siblings.
A memorial reception celebrating the lives of Ivor and Josephine Lab will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 2-4 PM in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Cremation will be cared for through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
