Irma Marie Rieger, 92, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, June 24, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (DeWaele) Ricklic, Irma was born April 2, 1919 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Irma graduated from Midvale High School in 1937. Then on July 19, 1943, she would marry the love of her life, William Rieger and together the couple raised two children, Ronald and Nan.She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where over the years she was active with the Altar Society, Christian Mother’s, the Senior Citizens and LCBA.Irma and William enjoyed dancing and took part in many square and round dances throughout the Akron and Canton areas. She also enjoyed cooking and baking; having baked many birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. Irma would often help William in the garden prior to canning many of the vegetables.In addition to her husband, William, Irma is survived by her son Ronald Rieger of Rittman, Ohio; daughter, Nan (James) Troyer of Sherrodsville; four grandchildren, Michelle (Jason Guello) Rieger of Wadsworth, Ohio, Donald (Beth) Rieger of Stow, Ohio, Sybil (Frank) Dundon of Sherrodsville and Susan (Carl) Conrad of Alden, New York; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Laura (John) Dutton of Mineral City; a brother, Donald Joseph (Mildred) Ricklic of New Philadelphia, two sisters-in-law, Pat Ricklic and Anna Ricklic both of New Philadelphia and numerous nieces and nephews.Irma was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond and Albert Ricklic.The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 p.m. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia with burial following in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Irma’s memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to a charity of one’s choice.
