Irene L. Maus, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, in her home following a sudden illness.A daughter of the late George and Anna Mochoskay Cerveni, Irene was born at Dover, Ohio on February 20, 1935. She was a 1953 graduate of Dover High School and married Herbert Maus on August 15, 1954, and shared forty-six years of marriage prior to his death in December of 2000. Together the couple reared two sons.For a number of years Irene was employed by Sugarcreek Industries where she worked in the assembly department. She formerly attended Grace Lutheran Church at Dover.Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; and looked forward to monthly luncheons with former classmates and fellow retired employees of Alsco and Sugarcreek Industries. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working with the Warm Up America program which provided afghans to those in need. Additionally, Irene loved exercising and working through the Body Recall Program at Super Fitness and attending the Happy Hearts Meetings at Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia.Irene leaves behind her family which includes two sons, Steven (Dana) Maus of Bolivar, and David (Monica) Maus of New Philadelphia. A sister, Helen Blackson, of Dover also survives.Three grandchildren, Shane Maus of Bolivar and Joel and Alison Maus of New Philadelphia complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by a brother George Cerveni and a sister, Ann Blackson.The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 10, 2010, from 1-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Irene’s life will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia will follow.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Irene’s name may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
