Born on September 17, 1929, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Irene was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Marie E. (Dillon) Turrin, Sr. and in her adult life, devoted much of her career as a longtime sales clerk at the former Schwartz-Kline Department Store. Her commitment to service was evident in her genuine interactions with customers. She was a lady of remarkable character and was always thankful for her family and friends, cherishing the bonds that enriched her life.

In her leisure time, Irene found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly through her passion for gardening. She tended to her flowers, cultivating not only beauty in her surroundings but also moments of tranquility and reflection. Additionally, Irene delighted in attending various performances at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State-Tuscarawas, where she immersed herself in the rich tapestry of culture, artistry, and community. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia and a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 Auxiliary.

On August 28, 1954, Irene married Craig J. Coventry and together they shared over 45 years of marriage until his passing in April of 2000. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Jim Milliken of Dover; daughter, Vicki Fortuna of Dublin; grandchildren, Brian (Elizabeth) Boggs and Cory (Katie) Boggs; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Becky Turrin.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Joe Turrin.

In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia has been entrusted with her service arrangements.
