——————————————————————————–Ingeborg G. Frey, age 72, of Gnadenhutten passed away peacefully, surrounded by the loving care of her family Sunday, June 19, 2011 in her home.Born at Ansbach, Germany, July 7, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Babette Wunsch Huber. Best known as “Inge” to her family and friends she met and fell in love with her future husband, Richard E. Frey, who was serving in the United States Army as a peacekeeper in Germany in the late 1950’s. Inge was only 19 when the couple wed at Meinhardswinden, Germany August 14, 1957. Three months later, she left her hometown and embarked on a journey to the United States to join her husband, already at home in his native Tuscarawas Valley. A member of Fry’s Valley Moravian Church, Inge enjoyed playing volleyball, and bowling, ceramics and card playing. She’ll be remembered as an animal lover, one who always was ready to cook for her family, often sharing authentic German dishes for all to enjoy. In addition to her husband Richard of fifty-three years, Inge is survived by her son David (wife, Karen) Frey of Gnadenhutten, and daughter Debra (husband, Joe) Gray of Fry’s Valley. She’ll be sadly missed by five grandchildren who affectionately referred to their grandmother as “Oma”- Morgan and Jordan Frey of Gnadenhutten and Cody, Eric and Taylor Gray of Fry’s Valley. A sister-in-law, Gretta Frey of Fry’s Valley, as well as special nieces and a nephew, Sandra Chance of Gnadenhutten, Mike Chance of Cleveland, Virginia Ault of Fry’s Valley, Cindy Renner of New Philadelphia, Karen Morrison of Fry’s Valley and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins who reside in Germany. Inge was the last surviving member of her family from Germany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Hilda Huft, Frieda Graf, Kathi Osty, and her identical twin, Ilse Chance. An infant brother is also deceased. Family and friends will gather Friday afternoon at 5PM in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Pat Honzer will lead a memorial service celebrating Inge’s life. A reception will follow in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home at the conclusion of the service with private family burial in Fry’s Valley Cemetery at a later time. There are no public calling hours.Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
