Inez Irene Basiletti, age 82, of St. Rt. 416 in Warrick Township, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, October 1, 2005 in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Athens, Ohio, May 25, 1923, she was the last surviving of five children born to the late John Griffey and Lucy Eva Doolan Griffey. A 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Inez worked during World War II in both the Reeves and Timken mills. When the men returned from the war, she worked at the former Dutch Oven and LaFountain’s Variety Store in downtown New Philadelphia. On June 15, 1946, she married Emmett Weltz Basiletti. The two would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary next year. Mrs. Basiletti devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Moose, and a current member of the ladies auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 1445 in New Philadelphia. She and her husband attended the Midvale Church of God. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children; Robert Basiletti of Dundee, and John (Brenda) Basiletti , Dianna L. Waldren , and Gary Basiletti, all of New Philadelphia. Nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to her parents, two brothers; Dick and Raymond, and two sisters; Kate and May, precede her in death. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 4 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Larry R. Wonderly will officiate funeral services Monday afternoon at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal service, a meal will be shared in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
