Hunter Lane Corbett, 59, of Newcomerstown died Friday, July 20, 2007 from a tragic accident near his home, south of Stone Creek.Born July 3, 1948 at Newcomerstown, Hunter was the son of the late Max and Margaret Getchy Corbett. After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1966, he joined the professional work force at Joy Manufacturing, presently Howden Buffalo, in New Philadelphia. He was employed by the company nearly 41 years at the time of his death. His participation with the local union at Howden Buffalo was significant also.An avid fisherman, Hunter enjoyed many trips to the lake both privately and with his family. He also was a member of the NRA, and recently joined the Harley Owner’s Group after purchasing his first Harley Davidson motorcycle a few weeks ago.Hunter recently lost his wife of 15 years, the late Rebecca (Hartley) Corbett, whom he married November 30, 1991. He is survived by his two children, Hunter Lane Corbett II (fiancé, Rhonda Barnhart) of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Kelly (Brandon) Shaffer of Midvale; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Danielle Shaffer; a brother, Wade Corbett; and two sisters, Joyce Fenton and Margie Ney.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Corbett Baker.Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, July 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with The Rev. Tom Gruver officiating. Friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center immediately following the memorial service where a meal will be served. Inurnment of Hunter’s cremated remains will take place at a later date in Massillon.The family requests memorial contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association, Akron Office, 1815 West Market Street, Suite 108, Akron, OH 44313.
