Howard “Hank” D. Lahmers, age 76, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, following a period of declining health.A son of the late Wilbur and Alice (Finzer) Lahmers, Hank was born May 21, 1933, at Sugarcreek Township. He attended Sugarcreek schools and was a 1951 graduate of Dover High School.Hank was the owner for the former Lahmers Sunoco and 3-Way Car Wash at Dover and Quakertowne Laundry at New Philadelphia. He was an avid supporter of the New Philadelphia Quakers, The Ohio State University and a fan of Cleveland sports. He particularly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.Hank was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover.Hank leaves behind a family that includes his wife, the former Jane T. Johnston, whom he married on March 12, 1955; three daughters, Amy (Rod) Miller, Gaye (Jeff) Clark and Gwyn (Dale) Anderson and five grandchildren, Aaron and Natalie Miller, Ross Clark and Rachel Anderson of all New Philadelphia and Mitchell Clark of Greenville, S.C. Two aunts, Laura Rowe of Strasburg and Florence Finzer of Dover also survive.In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Bill Lint, and nephew, Robert Henry Lint.The family will receive friends on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 4:00 Â? 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Reverend Michael Lowry will lead a service celebrating Hank’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following services the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 409 N Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio 44622 or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
