Howard Eugene “Sonny” Freeman, 73, of Uhrichsville, died Monday, February 27, 2012 in Trinity Twin City at Dennison following a period of declining health.
A son of the late William and Velma (Langdon) Freeman, Howard was born July 23, 1938 at Dennison, Ohio.
On April 12, 1959, he married the love of his life, the former Joanne Swinderman and together the couple raised two sons, Allan and Scott.
Howard worked as a cement finisher for various companies and retired from Stanley Miller Construction in 2001. He was a member of the Plasterers & Cement Masons Local #109 of Canton.
He enjoyed tending to his yard and keeping his home and belongings extremely tidy. He also had a love for Oldsmobile cars and owned many throughout the years. But, most of all, Howard dearly loved his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Freeman of the home; his sons, Allan W. (Pamela J.) Freeman and Scott B. (Brenda J.) Freeman both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Hollie N. Freeman of Arlington, Virginia and Tal S. (Fiance, Autumn J. Lake) Freeman of New Philadelphia; a sister, Mary Lou Freeman of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Robert Freeman of Dennison and Terry Freeman of Tippecanoe; two step sisters, Alma (Phillip) Tatliak and JoAnn (Howard) Martin of Florida; a step brother, James (Brenda) Utter of Dover and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother, Dorothy Freeman and two sisters, Linda Moyer and JoAnn Freeman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Howard’s life will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Price officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
