Herbert Robinson

January 4, 1931 — June 13, 2011

Herbert C. Robinson, 87, of Walnut Creek, and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord, August 29, 2015 at The Windsor in Canton, following a period of declining health.

Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Oscar and Ruby (Boyer) Robinson.

After graduating from Uniontown Senior High School in Pennsylvania, Herb continued his formal education at Waynesburg College where he majored in chemistry and minored in psychology. He then became a student at the Pittsburgh Institution of Mortuary Science where he graduated in 1951.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon return home, he began his professional career with the G. Earl McCoy Funeral Home in Pennsylvania. He continued serving on a part-time basis for numerous years thereafter.

A free spirit full of adventure, laughter, and music, Herb was an honest man with a passion for serving those around him. Whether he was singing with the Tuscarawas Valley Barbershop Chorus or in the choir at Broadway United Methodist Church, Herb enjoyed the sound of music.

He also had a passion for driving his red convertible, hunting, and passing out fireballs to anyone who would accept one.

In June of 1994, Herb’s life was blessed richly blessed when he wed his partner and best friend, the former Ada W. Weaver. Together, they enjoyed being in the presence of their family, traveling, and being involved with their church.

Herb will also be deeply missed by his children, Leslee (Ray) Fagan of Redmond, Oregon, Linda (Ed) Keeling of Missouri, and Kimberly (Jim) Vanoster of Strasburg; and his 7 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin.
