Henry Thad Bowers

Henry Thad Bowers, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover.A son of the late Russell and Clelia (Getz) Bowers, Thad was born December 2, 1919 in New Philadelphia, OH.Thad was a 1937 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and he continued his education at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania and Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.During World War II, Thad worked at Goodyear Aircraft in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then after completing law school, he became a partner in what is currently Bowers, Bowers & Mastin Law Firm at New Philadelphia until his retirement in 2005. He was also a member of the American Bar Association for 57 years.Thad was an avid reader and he had many interests. He loved to learn and he enjoyed anything that helped him become more knowledgeable.He is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Ringheimer) Bowers, whom he married on August 30, 1947; three children, Reed (Annette) Bowers of Strasburg, Marcia (Douglas) Campbell of Columbus, Ohio and Brad Bowers of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Hillary, Marla and Bethany Campbell and Nathan, Jeffrey and Lindsey Bowers; and one sister, Joy (James) Reiser of Beulah, Michigan.In keeping with Thad’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev. Jeffrey Gerber officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. At a later date, Thad’s family will take him to his beloved Platte Lake, Michigan to his final resting place.The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Thad’s memory to the Tuscarawas County Public Library, 121 Fair Avenue NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
