Henry J. “Hank” Menapace, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, October 18, 2002 at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles and Frances Marnelli Menapace. Hank had retired in 1981 from the former Joy Manufacturing in New Philadelphia after forty years of service with the company. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, a charter member of the Tri-County Model A Club, a member of the Penn-Ohio Model A Club and a member of M.A.R.C. Hank also loved gardening and camping at Atwood Lake with his friends.Surviving is his wife, the former Marjorie “Marge” Smitley, whom he married September 29, 1951; a daughter, Brenda K. Menapace of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Cora True Menapace of Hilliard and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Anna Zenetti, Olga Menapace and Edith Curtis and two brothers, Charles Menapace and Albert E. Menapace also precede him in death.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at 1:30 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal. Visitation will be held Monday, October 21, 2002 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
