Henry “Hank” Goudy, Jr. age 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away early Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 in Schoenbrunn Health Care. Born at New Philadelphia, September 12, 1923, he was a son of the late Henry Zortman and Flora Belle Moore Goudy. A lifelong resident of community, Hank will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his work at the former Reeves Steel, where he worked for forty-two years, missing only three days of work during his tenure. Neighbors and family will remember his love for the outdoors, his well kept flower and vegetable garden and for his generosity with the yield from his garden. Henry was especially fond of the birds and squirrels, many of whom he trained to feed from his hand. Socially, Hank was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at both New Philadelphia and Tuscarawas, and was a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Moose, and the former New Philadelphia Moose. He leaves behind a family that dearly loved him, which includes his wife of sixty-one years, the former Jeanette M. Stuber. The couple wed December 4, 1948, and together would rear a family of two sons and a daughter. They are Butch (companion, Stacy) Goudy of Dennison, Linda Goudy and Terry (wife, Kim) Goudy, both of New Philadelphia. Seven grandchildren; Scott (wife, Leslie) Smith of Dover, Darby (wife, Kristen) Boltz of New Philadelphia, Danielle (husband, Ben) Malczewski, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Hunter Goudy, Taryn Goudy, Hannah Goudy, and Cody McKayhill, all of New Philadelphia also survive. Four great-grandchildren Mylee Smith, Ellie Smith, both of Dover and Logan Boltz, Jaiden Boltz, , all of New Philadelphia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who knew him and loved him as “Uncle Babe” completes the family. In addition to his parents, Hank is preceded in death by his brother Eugene Goudy, a sister, Pauline Lappin, and an infant brother, Bobby Goudy. Pastor Max Canfield will lead a graveside service Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM in East Avenue Cemetery. Calling hours in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia are private.
