Helen Mae Roth, 96, of Dover, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 in the Country Club Retirement Center at Dover.Born April 1, 1910 in Cadiz, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Cox) Chaney.After finishing her education at Midvale, she spent her lifetime as a homemaker. For a brief period during World War II, she did work at a clay plant.Helen was an avid hunter and loved to fish, especially with her husband on Lake Erie. Other hobbies of hers included needlework and cheering on the Cleveland Indians.Helen is survived by two siblings, Audrey (Karr) Ashbaugh of New Philadelphia and Raymond (Dorothy) Chaney of Bolivar; a sister-in-law, Mary Chaney; and four grandchildren, Linda Rupe, Denise Lukens, Larry Chercony, Mary Jo Dessecker, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a great-great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.In addition to her parents and her husband, Clyde C. Roth, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Chercony; sisters, Bertha Best and Hazel Blosser; and her brothers, Virgil, Ralph, and Harold Chaney.Visitation will be held at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. A service will immediately follow visitation with Rev. Fred Wallis officiating. Burial will be alongside her husband at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be served following the committal service.
