Helen M. Penick, age 85, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late George Kasarda and Sadie Fairman MacCaulay, Helen was born at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, on September 24, 1925.She relocated to Ohio in her younger years and later married George Penick with whom she celebrated more than 35 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1989.For many years, Helen worked as a nurse’s aide in Union Hospital at Dover and following her retirement enjoyed her work as a greeter at Wal-Mart.Helen was a kind and loving individual who enjoyed being around others, especially her family. Additionally, she enjoyed reading and crocheting, caring for her pets and being out of doors, even during the winter months she found joy in shoveling snow.Helen will be deeply missed by her family which includes two children; a son, John (Jacci) Kokinski and a daughter, Janice (Doug) Hixson all of New Philadelphia.Two grandsons; Jimmy Frantz and Shawn (Brenda) Kokinski all of New Philadelphia and two granddaughters; Lori (Nathan) Veal and Jennifer Frantz all of Dover; four great grandchildren, Taylor Johns, Bailey Bowers, and Cody and Connor Kokinski; and two special cousins, Ralph and Jackie Labus complete the family.In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. Private burial will take place at a future date.
