Helen M. Hunter

Helen Margaret Hunter, age 85, of Barnhill, died Friday, August 14, 2009 at home with her family following an extended illness.Born September 17, 1923 in Dennison, O., she was the daughter of the late John “Robert” and Ola (Corbin) Haney.On October 1, 1938, Helen married the late Everett R. Hunter and together, they raised eight children.She enjoyed doing embroidery work while watching old reruns on television. She also loved to bake, can, and work in her flower gardens. She was a member of the Midvale V.F.W. Lady’s Auxiliary.Helen is survived by three daughters, Liz (Rusty) Jones of North Jackson, O., Betty A. Hunter of New Philadelphia, and Janet (Ralph) Tice of Barnhill; one son, Richard (Christina) Hunter of Cadiz, O.; her siblings, Henry Haney and Clara Guthrie, both of Uhrichsville; and 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Fetter and Ruth Ann Downy; three sons, Danny, William and Thomas; one daughter, Carrie “Susie” and her granddaughter, Nicole.A service celebrating Helen’s life will be held in the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, August 18 beginning at 5 p.m. Immediately following the service, visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 6 to 8 p.m. If you would like to contribute a food offering or monetary donation to the Hunter family, please contact Theresa Tice at 330-339-1657.
