Helen M. Hostetler, 94, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly October 6, 2009.A daughter of the late Sherman and Bessie (Ramel) Stemple, Helen was born July 19, 1915 at Tuscarawas, Ohio.Helen graduated from Tuscarawas High School in 1933 and on May 10th of that year she married the love of her life, Willard Henry Hostetler. The couple shared 53 years of marriage prior to Willard’s passing in October of 1986.She was a member of the First Moravian Church at Dover where she was also involved with Women’s Fellowship. Helen was also a member of a Midvale women’s social group and a bridge card club.Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching her favorite college basketball teams, North Carolina, Duke and the University of Cincinnati, on television. She also served as a volunteer for Union Hospital.She is survived by her daughter, Sue Lynn (Jack) Neiger of New Philadelphia; three grandsons, Jack (Winifred) Neiger of North Carolina, Jeffrey (Heather) Neiger of Coshocton and Jan (Lisa) Neiger of Worthington and three great grandchildren, Kitrina, Brittany and Luke Neiger.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard and two sisters, Leola Hartline and Ruth Schneider and a brother, Robert Stemple.The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the First Moravian Church at Dover with Rev. Marie Couts and Rev. Harry Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the First Moravian Church at Dover.Contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the First Moravian Church, 319 North Walnut Street, Dover, OH 44622.
