Helen M. Holmes Beckwith Snedeker, 93, of Stagecoach, NV., formerly of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday February 21, 2006, in Nevada.A daughter of the late James Elmer and Clara E. Grove Holmes, Helen was born March 24, 1912, in Pike, N.Y.She was a 1930 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a 1934 graduate of the County Community Hospital, in Warsaw, New York with a degree in nursing. She started her career with County Community Hospital. Following her return to Tuscarawas County, in 1947, she worked at the former Torgler Nursing Home in Dover, then in 1949 started as a nurse in the office of Dr. Harold F. Wherley working also with Dr. Ben and Dr. Dan Wherley until her retirement in 1987.Helen was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia.She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helaine) Moore, of Stagecoach, NV; with whom, she resided and Joan Stiffler, of Dover; grandchildren, Kathi Eggler, of Stagecoach, NV, Mrs. Tom (Suzanne) Moore, of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Jeff (Becki) Reiser, of Dover, Douglas (Renee) Stiffler, of Dover and Jeffrey Foster, of Toledo; special cousins, Ronnie and Elsie DeMeo and Royce Scriven; and nine great grandchildren.Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ellis L. Beckwith, in 1947 and her second husband, Russell E. Snedeker, in 1969; a daughter, Ann Foster; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter, and three brothers. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2006 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Dwight Mason of Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park.A memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home, immediately following the committal.
