Helen Louise Jones, age 80, a resident of Stone Creek for more than six decades, died Friday afternoon, December 10, 2004, at her daughter’s home in Plainfield, O. Born in Princeton, KY, on September 9, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Daisey Johnson Boitnott. Helen’s family moved to the area when she was a young girl and she attended the former Bucey & Frebley one room school house in the Oldtown Valley. Helen loved the country, and especially her farm. She was very fond of all animals, and took joy in her daily work there milking the cows and tending to her gardens. Helen enjoyed working in the kitchen, and worked as a cook at the former Arbor Inn in Stone Creek. On January 1, 1941, she married Theadore P. Jones. The couple spent 41 years together farming and rearing a family, before his death November 11, 1982. Survivors include a daughter; Linda L. (companion Bob Lawrence) of Plainfield, O, a son; Jack Theadore (Diana) Jones of Newcomerstown, four granddaughters; Brenda Norman and Barbara Harshman, both of Newcomerstown, and Kelly Jo (Vern) Wenger of Beach City and Trisha Ann (Sean) Monroe of Uhrichsville, seven grandsons Chris (Karen) Norman of Newcomerstown, J.P. (Kristy) Jones of New Philadelphia, Adam P. (April) Jones of Newcomerstown, Jody L. (Angel) Jones of Wainwright, Bill Berger of Port Washington, Zeke Berger of Newcomerstown and Erick Berger of Port Washington, a sister, Mildred Sickels of Roswell, and three brothers; Homer Gene Boitnott of Dover, Ted Boitnott of Gnadenhutten, and Dean Boitnott of Newcomerstown. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two daughters, Patsy “Punkin” Jones in 1967, and Darla “Dot” Jean Berger in 1996, as well as two sisters; Connie Elson and Shirley Lorenz, and three brothers, Ernie Boitnott and Bryant Boitnott, and an infant brother Ollie Boitnott. Friends are invited to call Monday, December 13, from 4 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral celebrating the life of Mrs. Jones will begin at 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 14, in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
