Helen Jean Singree

Helen Jean Singree, age 82, of Dover, died Friday afternoon, May 5, 2006, in Aultman Hospital following a sudden illness. Born at Stillwater, Ohio February 27, 1924, Helen Jean was a daughter of the late Dallas and Anna Copeland Clarke. She attended grade school at Stillwater and graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1942. Helen Jean went to work, as many ladies of her age did in the midst of World War II, at the former Hercules Machine at Canton, where she met and fell in love with Clyde Singree. The couple were wed in Second Presbyterian Church at Lexington, Kentucky, on November 24, 1944 Â? and observed their sixty-first wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day 2005. Helen Jean was a loving mother, wife and friend. She enjoyed visiting relatives and friends, sewing, cooking and keeping in touch with those she loved whether in person or by way of the telephone. For sixteen years, Mrs. Singree worked as a seamstress in Union Hospital at Dover. She and Clyde traveled extensively Â? having traveled to all 50 states of the Union, as well as Canada, Mexico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For fifteen years, Helen Jean and Clyde wintered at Palmetto, Florida, where they quickly made friends with many residents in their community prompting summertime reunions Â? to lessen the amount of time they spent away from one another. A member of Grace Lutheran Church at Dover, Helen Jean was also a member of the Dr. Mary Bear Circle of the church. Together with her husband, Helen Jean reared a son and daughter who survive, Wayne and his wife Jeanne of Bolivar and Beverly and her husband Jeff Myers of Worthington, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Kimberly Myers of New York City, Kyle Myers also of Worthington, Brian and his wife Traci Singree of Bolivar, and Alan Singree of Dover, four great-grandchildren Â? Ethan, Elise, A.J., and Rebecca Singree complete the family. Survivors also include her siblings, Irene Edwards of Mineral City, Robert Clarke and his wife Helen of Uhrichsville, Lois Mahaffey of Columbus, Ohio, and Fred Clarke and his wife Lois also of Mineral City.At the direction of the family, private services will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. There are no public calling hours. Burial will take place in Dover Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Traci Fund in care of The Huntington National Bank, P.O.
