Helen Jean Riggs

Helen Jean Riggs, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Amberwood Manor Nursing Home in New Philadelphia.A daughter of the late J.R. and Nora J. (Thompson) Snyder, Helen was born March 18, 1921 in Jewett, Ohio.Helen retired from East Sparta Ceramics after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia, a life member of the New Philadelphia Moose and a life member of the Royal Neighbors.She is survived by one daughter, G. Joyce (Dave) Delaney of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Jim (Karen) Riggs of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Cpt. Chp. J. Andrew (Victoria) Riggs, Samuel J. (Glenna) Riggs, Linda Norman, David Delaney, James (Sara) Delaney, Frank R. Fry and Christine (Christopher) Grecol; and six great-grandchildren, Anna Riggs, Abby Riggs, Samantha Riggs, William Delaney, Francis Fry and Paige Delaney.Helen was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Riggs who passed away on January 4, 1976; one daughter, Shirley Fry; an infant son; one grandson, Brian Fry; one brother; and one sister.A memorial service celebrating Helen’s life will be held Friday March 18, 2005 at11:00a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia with Pastor Michael Walters officiating. Cremation will be conducted at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
