Helen Glazer

Helen Glazer, 100, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.

A daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Wassem) Stucky, Helen was born February 6, 1916 at Stone Creek, Ohio.

Helen graduated from Stone Creek High School as the class valedictorian in 1933.  She was later employed by the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau.

On August 20, 1939, Helen married the love of her life, Norman Lee Glazer, and together they raised two sons, John and Gary.  The couple shared 67 years of marriage prior to Norman’s passing on February 5, 2007.

Helen was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where she was active in many church circles.  She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School in her younger years.  Helen was also active in the community and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Tuscarawas County YMCA, Homemakers, Garden Club and various card clubs.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Sue Glazer of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Glazer Reese and her husband, Rev. Bruce Reese of Tallmadge, Ohio; her grandchildren, Bill (Stephanie) Glazer, David (Cindy) Glazer, Holly (Jason) Schafer, Brad (Heather) Glazer and Carie (Stephen) Casey and her great grandchildren, Ashley and Brian Glazer, Katie Schafer, Joshua, Leah and Jacob Glazer and Vanessa and Marissa Casey.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her son, Rev. Gary N. Glazer; two sisters, Bernice Dummermuth and Marie Catcott and four brothers, Clarence, Ervin, Herbert and Frank Stucky.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Reese officiating.  Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.  Helen will then be laid to rest alongside Norman during a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Jerusalem Cemetery.
