Helen Elizabeth Corder

Helen Elizabeth Corder, 88, of Strasburg, died early Saturday morning, April 14, 2012 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover.

A daughter of the late Clifford and Carrie (Kappler) Shroyer, Helen was born September 7, 1923 at Dover, Ohio.

Helen graduated from Strasburg High School in 1942 and was a lifelong member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed friends and especially the gatherings with her club. Helen also enjoyed her children and grandchildren, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed doing so while listening to music.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jeff) Collingwood of Willard, Ohio; four sons, Robert (Marla) Corder of Florida, Richard (Bets) Corder of North Canton, Randy (Paula) Corder of Bolivar and Ronald (Shirley) Corder of Dover; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Bidwell, Shawn, Jason and Adam Corder, Kim Vanoster, Kody and Jennifer Corder, Jessica Greer and Seth and Paige Collingwood and 12 great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Corder; a sister, Jo Anne Tucker and three brothers, William, Daniel and Jack Shroyer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Bruce McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the Hennis Care & Retirement Centre for all of the love and compassion given to Helen during her final years.
