Helen Eilein Liberatore

Helen Eilein Liberatore, 90, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John and Helen (Hare) Wise, Eilein was born June 29, 1923 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Eilein graduated from St. Joseph’s High School at Dover in 1941. Then on June 30, 1951, Eilein married the love of her life, Corden Peter Liberatore and together the couple would raise five children, Maureen, Richard, David, Fred and Mary Jane. The couple shared 51 years of marriage prior to Corden’s passing on August 1, 2002.

During her younger years she was employed at Woolworth’s and Dover Hardware. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where she was a member of the LCBA, the Altar Society, the Adult Discussion Group and the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. Eilein was also a former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover where she was a member of the Regina Study Club and the Secular Franciscans. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Stephen) Van Buren of Webster, New York, Richard (Samantha) Liberatore of Las Vegas, Nevada, David (Susan) Liberatore and Fred Liberatore both of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Mary Jane (Dennis) Wolf of Canton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Tom and Suzie Van Buren, Richard (Marion) Liberatore, Sara (Chris) Liberatore Lopez, Teri (Jordan) Stout, Jill (Matt) Baxter, John (fiancée, Audra) Liberatore, Traci and Todd Liberatore, Peter (Katie) Wolf, and Connor, Brigid and Joshua Wolf; her great grandchildren, Samson and Sawyer Liberatore, Nico and Benicio Lopez, Corben and Clara Stout and Henry Baxter; her sisters, Marguerite Ledger, Patricia Kennedy and Jacqualynn (Vince) Sandy all of Dover, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Eilein was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Mary Jane Wise.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Secular Franciscan service being held at 7:45 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
