Helen Chitti

Helen Louise Chitti, 86, of Kentucky and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away May 13, 2018 following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Minnie L. (Pfiester) and Walter J. Hilton, Helen was born in New Philadelphia on April 5, 1932.

Helen attended New Philadelphia schools and after completing her education, Helen married the late Frank Joseph Chitti on September 8, 1949.

Helen worked for the former L & K Hotel and also baked and decorated cakes for several years. Helen was an avid walker at the mall when she lived locally. She also loved to make pottery alongside her late husband.

Helen is survived by her son, James V. (Kathy) Chitti of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; her grandson Mark (Brenda Elizabeth) Chitti of Florence, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Annaliese and Gage Chitti; and her brothers, Charles (Donna) Hilton and Herman Hilton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins complete the family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in passing by her sister, Susan Cox, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Hilton.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday May 17, 2018 from 9:30 to 11 AM. A graveside service officiated by Father Jeff Coning will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia beginning at 11:15 AM.

Memorial contributions in Helen’s memory may be directed to Sacred Heart Church, where she attended when she lived in Ohio, 139 3rd St. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
