Helen C. Shuman

Helen C. Shuman, 84, of New Philadelphia, died Monday morning, January 5, 2004 at Union Hospital in Dover.Mrs. Shuman was born in Steelton, PA on February 2, 1919, one of six daughters born to the late Anton and Mary Krasevec Tezak. She moved to New Philadelphia from Harrisburg, PA in July, 2002, to be nearer her daughter and family. In Harrisburg, Mrs. Shuman was a member of the Lioness Club, the Pennsylvania Callers Association (for square dancing) and she volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society.She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie (Peter) McCarron and grandchildren, John, Patrick and Catherine McCarron, all of New Philadelphia, and a sister, Amelia (Sal) Rosa, of Cromwell, CT. In addition to her parents, four sisters, Frances, Ann, Mary and Theresa, preceded her in death.Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7, 2004 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey will officiate and burial will follow at Fair Street Cemetery.The family prefers that contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice be made.
