Helen Ferne Addy, age 85, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, April 5, 2010, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Ralph Bliss and Gladys (Shaw) Bliss Ames, Helen was born at Newcomerstown, Ohio on November 28, 1924.On November 25, 1945, Helen married Paul K. Addy and shared in fifty years of marriage prior to his passing in June of 1996.For many years Helen was employed by ODOT and Huntington National Bank where she maintained a position as a bookkeeper. Helen also assisted her husband in the operation of their business the former Paul Addy Motors.Helen was a member of Newcomerstown Order of the Eastern Star, Tuscarawas County Republican Women, the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church, and the Tuscarawas County Historical Society. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed collecting dolls and books. Additionally, Helen was a charter member of the Zoar Doll Club.Helen leaves behind a family which includes two daughters, Joan (Steve) Zion of New Philadelphia, and Jill (Steve) Harder of Strasburg and a son, Larry (Pat) Addy of New Philadelphia.Completing her family are three grandchildren Karree (David) Zantene, Douglas (Debby) Addy all of New Philadelphia, and Dusty Harder of Strasburg, and two great-grandchildren, Samantha Zantene and Gage Addy.In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Roger M. Bliss.The family will receive guests one hour prior to services from 1:00 â?? 2:00 PM on Friday, April 9, 2010, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Sue Koenig will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Following services the family will return to the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions in Helen’s name be directed to the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church, 2200 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to The Tuscarawas County Historical Society, PO BOX 462, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to The Tuscarawas County Humane Society, PO BOX 92, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
