Hazel R. Olson, age 81, of Dover, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.A daughter of the late A. Gordon and Emma C. Holt Carlton, Hazel was born in Plant City, Florida on August 2, 1926. Hazel was a graduate of Plant City High School, Florida and later relocated to Ohio after marrying Wesley W. Olson in the Plant City United Methodist Church on September 24, 1950. While Wesley was stationed in Wright Patterson Air force Base at Dayton, Hazel was able to obtain a civilian job on the base as a switch board operator. The couple later relocated from the Xenia area to the Tuscarawas Valley spending the past forty plus years residing in Dover. Mrs. Olson was a very colorful and social person by nature and during her later years after working as the office manager for Waldenmyer, Inc. and as a secretary for Bill Ress, Hazel often passed her time by being quite active in as many programs as possible in the First United Methodist Church at Dover. Hazel also enjoyed spending time playing bridge and would never turn down the opportunity to spend time with or attend an activity that involved her grandson.Hazel is survived by her husband, Wesley, as well as two sons, Stanford A. (Faye) Olson, of New Philadelphia, and Dwight Olson of Dover. Also surviving are a grandson, Zachary Olson of New Philadelphia; a brother, A.G. “Sam” Carlton, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Garland, Texas; a sister, Ellen Heykens and her husband, Henry, of Cleveland, Georgia. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 4:00 PM Â? 7:00 PM. A funeral service led by Pastor Larry Black will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, December 20, 2007 in the Geib Funeral Center. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.Those unable to attend visitation or services may send personal condolences to the family by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.
