Hazel E. Miller, age 87, of Dover, died peacefully Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Park Village Retirement Center at Dover following a brief illness.
Born at Newton, West Virginia on December 16, 1924, Hazel was a daughter of the late Thomas and Nettie (Noe) Jarvis.
She was a 1943 graduate of Spencer High School at West Virginia. On July 7, 1947 she married Weldon O. Miller. The couple reared two children and shared in nearly 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 1, 2004.
For 21 years, Hazel worked at the Berlin Plant of Owens-Illinois, Inc. as a quality inspector. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church at Berlin and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, cooking, canning, watching humming birds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Sabria (husband, Larry) Collins of Nickelsville, Virginia; a son, Kardon “Yogi” (wife, Vickie) of Dover and a brother, Billy Jarvis of Newton, West Virginia.
Four grandchildren, Jayme (wife, Beth) Collins, Jeremy Collins, Kerri (husband, Jim) Edwards, and Chad (wife, Christina) Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Tanner, Teagan, Aubrey, Logan, Hunter, Alanna, and Makenna as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by siblings, Pauline Deibl, Dixie Findly, Nancy Belle, Garnet Hensley, Herbert Jarvis, Kelsey Jarvis, Louis Jarvis, and Lucy Chase.
In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. A private burial service led by Pastor Thomas D. Nye will take place in the Berlin Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Hazel’s name may be directed to the First Baptist Church 4876 W. Main Street, Berlin, Ohio 44610 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
