Harry R. Kinsey, Jr., 58, of Port Washington, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 1, 2004, after a valiant battle with melanoma.Born at Dennison, OH, on April 19, 1946, he was the son of Alice Kinsey and the late Harry Kinsey, Sr., who died in 1993.After graduating from Dover High School in 1964, he continued his formal education at both the Kent State University Tuscarawas campus and the main campus at Kent, Ohio. Harry began his professional career at the former Warner & Swasey in Cleveland and at Kent Vending in New Philadelphia Since 1977, he was affiliated with AVI Foodsystems in Canton as an operations manager. Outside of his professional career, he enjoyed moving around the dance floor with his loving wife and best friend, Cheryl (Atkinson) Kinsey. Together, they cultivated many wonderful friendships from the worlds of ballroom, square, and country western dancing. They combined their love for travel and dance by attending dance events in different areas of the country.Harry loved his family and friends. He loved sharing his work and leisure activities with his sons. Family holidays, picnics, and vacations to Pelee Island are cherished memories to his family. Buying equipment at auctions and fixing them up in his workshop was another favorite pastime.Additionally, Harry will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor, his even temperament, and his ability to problem solve. In addition to his wife, Cheryl, and his mother, Alice, Harry will be greatly missed by his sons, Russell “Rusty” (Vicki) Kinsey of Stone Creek and Benjamin (girlfriend, India Smith) Kinsey of Uhrichsville. He is also survived by his grandsons, Kory and Kyle Kinsey of New Philadelphia; step-grandchildren, Nick and Nicole Bender of Stone Creek; his sister, Nancy (Jim) Swiger of Port Washington, his brother, Gordon “Gilly” (Alice) Gilmore of Uhrichsville; his mother-in-law, Mia “Sally” Atkinson of Dover; his father-in-law, Russ (Lou) Atkinson of Chagrin Falls; and his brother-in-law, Russ “Pete” (Nancy) Atkinson Jr. of Rockwood, Michigan.Visitation will be Sunday, October 3, 2004, from 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A funeral celebrating Harry’s life will be held at 2 pm on Monday in the funeral home’s chapel with Rev. Dr. Steve Bailey officiating. Following the service, burial will be take place at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the committal, a luncheon for family and friends will be held in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, Inc., 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, Ohio, 44622.
