Harry Joseph Mabie Sr.

Harry Joseph Mabie Sr., 84, of Dellroy, died early Sunday morning, August 31, 2003 in Union Hospital. Born October 23, 1918 in Canton, he was a son of the late Harry Ellsworth and Frona Alma Hewitt Mabie.Harry loved to spend time on his family farm, east of Carrollton, which remains in the family today. He was well known in the Dellroy area as the owner and operator of the former Heather’s Restaurant. Previously, he had worked in cost accounting for various steel mills.Harry met, fell in love with, and married his wife, the late Heather M. Bright in Australia, while he was serving in the United States Army during World War II. Together, they spent more than fifty years raising a family that includes a son Harry Joseph Jr. “Joey” and his wife Heidi Mabie of Dellroy, and a daughter Heather and her husband Roy Johnson of Malvern. He’ll be sadly missed by his sister, Twila Mabie of Louisville, and two granddaughters Torie and Casey Johnson, as well as many friends and acquaintances he made over his lifetime.At his request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory. His family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, from 1 to 3 at the funeral home located on the corner of Second St. NE and East High Avenue in downtown New Philadelphia. Military honors will be rendered at 3 PM Sunday afternoon by members of the Dover VFW Post # 3463.
