Harriet R. Knisely

July 7, 1926 — February 20, 2016

Harriet Rosanna Knisely, 89, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away February 20, 2016 in Union Hospital following a recent illness.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert Spencer and Mary Waive (Hord) McCutchen.

Harriet graduated from Caledonia High School in 1944 and the Marion Business College. Her professional career spanned 8 years with Morrow County Hospital in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. She also was a member of the Qui Vive Literary Club, the Business and Professional Women in New Philadelphia, the Schoenbrunn Christian Children League, and volunteered at Union Hospital.

Harriet loved caring for her family whether it was baking her delicious Sugar Cakes or writing letters to them throughout their lives. She also had a passion for reading, latch-hooking, and singing. Additionally, she enjoyed watching game shows and completing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her children Peg (Doug) McIntire, Tim (Patty) Knisely and Ted (Cindi) Knisely, all of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Holly Knisely of Lakewood, Kelly L’Amoreaux of Green, Joey Knisely of Cleveland, and Alex Knisely of New Philadelphia; and her great-grandson, Michael L’Amoreaux. Numerous nieces and nephews complete her family.

In addition to her parents, Harriet was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Michelle Rae Knisely in 1963; and her siblings, Luella (Carl) Powers, Martha (Gene) Maple, John (Mim) McCutchen, and Dean (Thelma) McCutchen.

A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11 am in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Harriet’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Harriet’s family is extremely grateful for the love and care she received the past 10 years from her extended family at New Dawn Healthcare Center in Dover.
