Harold Wiggins, 77, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2006 in his residence with his family by his side.A son of the late George and Jessie (Toban) Wiggins, Harold was born on October 30, 1928 at Fox Township in Carroll County.He was a 1946 graduate of Carrollton High School and a 1963 graduate of Kent State University. Harold was employed at the Timken Company from 1947 to 1978 and served as the New Philadelphia plant manager from 1971 to 1978. Following his employment at Timken he worked for Greer Steel in Dover until 1991.Harold was an ordained Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton and also a Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of New Philadelphia. He was a past president of the New Philadelphia Rotary and was also a Clerk of New Philadelphia Council. He served as Troop Committeeman for the Boy Scouts, was an advisor for Junior Achievement and was past Noble Grand of IOOF.He had many hobbies in life including traveling, woodworking, playing golf, tennis, cards and board games. Harold had a love for chocolate and the Cleveland Indians, which he followed since 1946. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Boggs) Wiggins, whom he married June 29, 1947; daughters, Cindy (Bill) Stallings of Dover and Cheryl (Terry) Olinger of New Philadelphia; sons, Larry (Lata) Wiggins of Canton, George (Karen) Wiggins of Bremerton, Washington and Richard (Dena) Wiggins of Reno Nevada; grandchildren, Angie Martinez of Seattle, Washington, Katie Wiggins of Monterey, California, Lauren Wiggins of Cuyahoga Falls, Georgia Wiggins of Pasadena, California, Casey and Jesse Stallings of Dover, Matt Wiggins of Charlotte, North Carolina, Adam Wiggins of Canton, Isaac Wiggins of Anchorage, Alaska, Aaron Wiggins of Reno, Nevada, Kris Allis of Dover, New Hampshire, Eric Allis of Reno, Nevada, Trevor Olinger of Uhrichsville, Ryan Olinger of Cuyahoga Falls, Jessie Jones of Seattle, Washington and Kyle Jones of Bremerton, Washington; three great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Knox of Carrollton and Dorothy Kovach of Florida.In addition to his parents Harold was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Shipman and Helen Trainer.In keeping with Harold’s wishes, cremation will take place at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Harold’s life will be held on Saturday February 4, 2006 at 3 p.m in the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Glen Shedlock and Rev. Douglas Patton officiating .
