Harold David Meeks

Harold David Meeks, age 86, of Newcomerstown, died peacefully, Wednesday, March 15, 2023, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Newcomerstown, Ohio on November 9, 1936, Harold was a son of the late Harold Victor and Neva Ruth Berry Meeks.

Harold was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and entered the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Harold married Georgina Mae Brown on June 6, 1959, and together the couple raised six children. Professionally, Harold worked for Gencorp as a Fork Truck Driver for 23 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 431 and enjoyed walking, playing video games, watching television, especially football, sharing stories of his Navy days, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by six children. Tim Meeks, of Newcomerstown, Chris (Wanda) Meeks of Newcomerstown, Tara (Rob) Kehl of Coshocton, Steven (Shelly) Meeks, Kathy Meeks, and Andrea Thornsley all of Newcomerstown; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, an expected great-grandchild, and a special family friend, Crystal Douglass. Completing the family are a brother, Daniel (Nancy) Meeks of Utah, and a sister Gloria Johnson of Newcomerstown; two nephews, and their families.

In keeping with Harold’s wishes there will be no public services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation arrangements.
