Harold A. West

Harold A. West, age 76, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.A son of the late Emmett N. and Edna G. (Camp) West, Harold was born on February 25, 1932 in Uhrichsville, Ohio.He was a 1950 graduate of Port Washington High School and then entered in to the United States Air Force. Harold retired from the General Electric Company at Dover in 1995 following 35 years of service.He was a member of the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church at New Philadelphia.Harold was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather who found great joy in family activities and gatherings.On July 6, 1957, Harold married the former Janet Roth who survives.In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by a son, Randy (Glenda) West of Dover; and a daughter Julie Thomas of New Philadelphia.Four grandchildren, Tara (Dennis) Armstrong, Parker West, Seth West, and Christopher Thomas, six great-grandchildren, Parker West, II, Jordan, Faith, Trenidey, and Hope Armstrong and Christopher Thomas, II complete the family.Harold will also be missed by his faithful companion, his dog, Gizmo.In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Thomas West and his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Marie Roth.Friends may call on Sunday, October 26, 2008, from 2:00 â?? 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Sue Koenig, will lead a funeral service celebrating Harold’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 10:30 AM.
