Harley W. Sefert, age 80, of New Philadelphia passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 after living a full life of making memories and creating art.
Born in Canton, Ohio on September 8, 1944 he was the son of the late Clarence William and Marguerite (Staggs) Sefert.
After high school graduation Harley spent 4 years in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany and Fort Knox during his years of service. Harley was a salesman and worked in many different areas of sales throughout the years. Involvement in the community was also an important trait to him. He served on multiple boards and clubs throughout the years. Recently, he was heavily involved with the Tuscarawas County Art Guild and as a board member of Center of the Arts.
His faith was nurtured at Dover Alliance Church. He served for many years as an elder of the church.
Harley is survived by his wife, the former Sue Lecocq, whom he married on September 23, 1967; son, Chris (Tami) Sefert of New Philadelphia; daughter, Tina (Bill Titus) Brammer of Bowerston; daughter-in-law, Michele De Courcy; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; step-brother, James E. Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesse Sefert; and sister, Linda Furr.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 Dover Alliance Church Family Life Center, 228 E. 3rd St., Dover from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory.
