Harley “Jake” Gray, 88, of Strasburg and formerly of West Virginia went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2011 in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar.A son of the late John L. and Anna M. (Moore) Gray, Jake was born December 27, 1922 at Clay County, West Virginia.Jake was a former employee of Elk River Coal and Lumber Company. He then retired from Republic Steel and LTV Steel in 1985 after 30 years of service. In his spare time, Jake enjoyed coon hunting with his beautiful blue tick dogs. He often hunted in various states including; Ohio, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Jake was a member of the Dundee Church of God.He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nina E. (Adkins) Gray whom he married on January 29, 1943; his son, Jarrett Gray of Huntsville, Alabama; a daughter, Elzavie Gray Levengood of Bolivar; three grandchildren, John (Chris) Gray, Michelle (Vito) Giacalone and Cory (Alison) Levengood; four great grandchildren, Kiana and Malia Gray, Chloe Gray Giacalone and Landen Levengood; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Gray; a brother-in-law, Porter (Joann) Adkins; a special nephew, James Gray and many dear friends and neighbors who have been there when needed.Jake was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Freddie; his twin brother, Arley “Fip”, two more brothers, Shannon and Dennis, and three sisters, Delphia, Josephine and Alma.In keeping with Jake’s wishes, service will be private and interment will take place in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and view an online memorial by visiting the funeral home website.
