Harland M. Maurer, Jr. 86, of Dover, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born in Orrville, Harland was the son of the late Harland M. and Helen (Wayble) Maurer, Sr. and had retired from Gradall at New Philadelphia, where he had worked as Superintendent of the Machine Shop. In his spare time, Harland was a member of the Classic Glass Corvette Club. He enjoyed going on trips with the club in his red 2015 Corvette and attending car shows. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars and building and fixing things around the home and for anyone who needed it. He never found an item that could not be cleaned! He was a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia Elks and had formerly attended the Dover Alliance Church at Dover.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Anne Maurer of the residence, his daughter, Debra (Matthew) Goodwin; his son Robert “Rob” (Jennifer) Maurer; five step-children, Correy (Josh) Henry, Lindsay (Jason) Kirschnick, Courtney (Bryan) Yingling, Jodi Hupp and Jennifer (Troy) Poole; four grandchildren, Trace Ricketts, Megan Maurer, Lily Goodwin and Drew Maurer; 12 step-grandchildren, Brody, Amelia, Gracyn, Scarlett and Madelynn Henry, John Demuth, Samantha, Ben and Andrew Hawk, Travis Poole, Trevor (Nadia) Poole and Alfie Kirschnick.
In addition to his parents, Harland is also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Maurer; two sisters, Patty Loibl and Sondra Pauline.
In keeping with his wishes, Harland is to be cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center and Crematory at Dover and a private graveside service is to be held in Dover Burial Park at Dover.
