Hallie Jo McGlumphy, age 44, of Dover, entered into the arms of Jesus, Thursday evening, March 3, 2022, following a 14-month battle with cancer, while under the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
The youngest of three daughters born to Adrian and Carol Bain Schaar of Dover, Hallie was born in Union Hospital at Dover on March 25, 1977. She was the Valedictorian of Dover High School’s class of 1995 and went on to obtain her Doctor of Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University.
While at Ohio Northern, Hallie met the love of her life, Eric McGlumphy. The couple married on June 9, 2001, and together had two daughters who became the center of her world. She instilled in both of them strength, grace, and her unmatched wit. She would not have traded being a mom for anything.
A long-time member of Dover First Moravian Church, Hallie enjoyed being involved in many of the church’s activities. Aside from her deep faith, Hallie loved animals and especially had a heart for rescuing dogs. Those who knew Hallie were well aware of her strength and determination to conquer any challenge that was laid before her. She was described by her family as a people-pleasing, easy-to-love individual who was also intelligent, compassionate, slightly stubborn, and always humble.
Hallie put her traits to work in her profession as well, having been a part of Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital for the past 13 years as a pharmacist who served well in various roles. Most recently, she has served as the Supervising Pharmacist for the Coumadin Clinic; she deeply loved her patients and co-workers.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hallie will be deeply missed by her daughters, Camryn and Brooke McGlumphy of the home; her sisters, Melanie (Brian) Cronebach of Dover, and Kera (Tom) Ackerman of Lexington, Kentucky; her mother-in-law, Nancy McGlumphy of Dover; her brother-in-law, Kevin (Lisa) McGlumphy of Cumming, Georgia, and her nieces and nephews, Bryn (Justin) Maurer, Seth Cronebach, Anna and Claire Ackerman, and Kade and Kole McGlumphy. She will also be missed by her loving dogs Louie, Charlie, Mickey, and Lola Jo.
A celebration of Hallie’s life will be led by Pastor John Wallace in the Dover First Moravian Church on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM. The family will greet guests in the church’s Social Hall during a light reception from the conclusion of the service until 8:30 PM.
Instead of floral tributes, the family asks that donations in Hallie’s name be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or Save a Mom Pregnant Dog Rescue, Inc., 1271 Downing Street SW, East Sparta, Ohio 44626.
