H. Dale Abbuhl

H. Dale Abbuhl, age 71, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Saturday evening, October 14, 2006, in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia following a lengthy illness. Born at Uhrichsville, June 7, 1935, Dale was a son of the late Roy and Matilda Stubbins Abbuhl. A 1954 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Dale served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960. A forty-one year veteran of the former Warner & Swasey, Dale retired in 1996. He took pleasure in bowling, and hunting, and even serving as a baseball umpire in his early years. Dale enjoyed helping others, and prior to his illness, was always offering assistance to his neighbors by shoveling snow. His family includes his wife of fifty-one years, the former Lottie Douglass, whom he wed June 4, 1955. Together, they reared a family that includes a daughter, Roanne (husband Mike) Gottschalk of Granville, Ohio, and a son, Bruce (wife Lisa) Abbuhl of Katy, Texas. Five Grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, and Grace Gottschalk, all of Granville and Brittany and Jenna Abbuhl, both of Katy, Texas, also survive. Six brothers; Harold Abbuhl of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Kenny (wife Marie) Abbuhl of Tuscarawas, Doyle (wife Delores) Abbuhl, Gnadenhutten, Loren (wife May) Abbuhl of Canton, Ohio, Dick (wife Twila) Abbuhl of New Philadelphia, David (wife Mary) Abbuhl of Massillon, a sister; Barbara (husband Melvin) Wengerd of New Philadelphia, and a sister-in-law; Carrie Abbuhl, of New Philadelphia, completes the family. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Don Abbuhl.Friends are invited to call Thursday afternoon from 2PM Â? 4PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastors Bob Mathias and Larry Fletcher will lead services Thursday evening at 6PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Cremation will follow in care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
