Grace Marie Sloan

Grace Marie Sloan, 88, of New Philadelphia, died early Friday morning, October 11, 2013 in Union Hospital at Dover.

A daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie (Hollingsworth) Holmes, Grace was born February 20, 1925 at Skyles, West Virginia.

Grace was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover and was retired from Fluorocarbon Inc. at Dover where she was employed as a finisher.

She was a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center where she enjoyed playing Bingo, having dinner and simply cherishing the fellowship of others. Grace was also an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley A. Wallick of Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jane Sloan of Dover; four grandchildren, Brandon L. Wallick of New Philadelphia, Shannon (Bryan) Kincaid of Dover, Jennifer (David) Hennon of Pataskala, Ohio and Jill (Steve) Lipscomb of Little Hocking, Ohio; nine great grandchildren and a brother, Eugene (Irene) Holmes of Fairmont, West Virginia.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John J. Sloan who passed away on December 19, 1963.

In keeping with Grace’s wishes there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
